Barnes and Noble Day to Benefit Give-A-Thon on SaturdayProceeds From Sales Aiding Charity Drive; Various Clubs to Perform at BookstoreThe Lincolnshire Barnes and Noble will donate a portion of its sales on Saturday, Dec. 6 to Stevenson's Give-A-Thon to help reach its goals: providing 200 families with gifts; supplying the Vernon Area Food Pantry with one year of food; and giving Preservation of Human Dignity six months of baby supplies. Any purchases, including food items from the cafe, can be directed toward Give-A-Thon. Various clubs are scheduled to perform at the store on Saturday. Students in the Hip-Hop Club, Tri-M and Lady Jazz will be showcasing their talents in musical and dance performances. Art Club will be hosting a crafts table. Origami Club members will show their talents with paper. GIVE will be reading children's books. Don't forget to mention Stevenson at the register! Looking for an affordable holiday gift? Chapter 6, which was featured on American Idol last February and is one of the top a cappella groups in the country, will be performing at Stevenson on Saturday, Jan. 31. The concert is sponsored by the Stevenson High School Community Foundation. Tickets are only $15 for adults and $10 for senior citizens and students. Showcase Audition Sign-Ups This WeekStudents Invited to Take Part in PPA's Annual Variety ShowSignups for the extremely popular Stevenson talent show will be held December 2, 5, and 12 during lunch, and December 9 after school. See the banners around school for details and locations. All students need to register is the name of the act and the names, ID numbers, phone numbers and e-mail addresses of all participants. Registration forms can be found on the PPA website, in the Student Activities office or can be picked up at the sign-up tables. Don't miss out on being a part of this great event, to be held April 17 and 18. Late Arrival ThursdayStevenson will operate on a late arrival schedule Thursday, Dec. 4. Classes will begin at 10:30 a.m. Dance Concert This WeekendThe Winter Dance Concert will be held Friday through Sunday, Dec. 5-7, in the Main Stage of the Performing Arts Center. Show times are 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 2 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $5. Special Education Community Dialogue WednesdayThe Stevenson Special Education Community Board will hold a community dialogue from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3 in the West Staff Dining Room (Room 1204, by the Sports Center entrance; park in Lot D). The event is open to parents and guardians whose children receive special education services at the school. During the event, SECB members will share results from a recent parent survey, listen to feedback from those in attendance, and use the information to focus on the top three areas the board can target for enhancement.
