At a reception on Wed., Nov. 19 at Woodstock North High
School, the District 200 Education Foundation presented $34,117.23
in mini-grant awards to District 200 teachers for classroom
projects planned for this school year. Sixty-six out of a
total of 85 requests were either partially or totally funded.
The purpose of the Foundation’s mini grant awards program
is to provide funding for innovative educational activities
that aren’t covered by the District 200 budget. Teachers
submit their proposals and a budget to the Foundation in mid-October.
A committee from the Foundation then reviews each request
and selects those that will be funded.
Some of the projects being supported by the Education Foundation
this year include field trips, after school opportunities,
technology, reading and fine arts enrichment, real life experiences,
and parent involvement activities. Every District 200 school
received at least three mini-grants. For a summary of this
year's projects, click on the link at the end of this article.
